"Free acid GSH in inhalation solution has a pH of about 2.7. It has been noted that low pH inhalants may contribute to lung irritation and cough. The UVICF is investigating ways of adjusting the pH of inhaled GSH. One approach is to use a GSH sodium salt, whose pH can be adjusted to any level desired. In one in vivo trial using asthma patients, persons were able to tolerate a 2.4 gram dose of inhaled GSH when a GSH sodium salt with a pH of 7.0 was used for inhalation
(Benorio S et al., "Glutathione in Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness," J. Aerosol Medicine 9(2):207-213, 1996).
We are pleased to announce that Theranaturals, Inc ( theranat@fiber.net ) has produced GSH Plus, which is a GSH sodium salt whose pH has been adjusted to 5.5-5.95. Only such a buffered GSH should be used for inhalation. Please click on the colored box above for more information.
